So E3 has come and gone and with all the fuss about Xbox One and PS4, it would be easy to neglect the little guys. The little guys in this case are Pwnee Studios and their new title Cloudberry Kingdom. Slated to be released on almost every system, CK is a title you’ll be sure to hear about once its released. At E3 I had a chance to go hands-on with the Wii-U version, read on for my impressions.
When I arrived there were already three journalists enjoying the game but I was able to jump right in. The mode we were playing generated random one-of-a-kind stages based on how well we played, learning our skills and weaknesses and progressively getting more difficult. The animation aside, you’re immediately reminded of LBP in that all four players start together but the goal here is to have at least one player make it to the goal, progressing all players to the next stage.
Along the way there are platforms, flames, lasers, spikes and various other obstacles in your way to prevent you from reaching your goal. Armed only with your d-pad and the ability to jump, anyone from the 8-bit to present day era will find themselves equipped to enter Cloudberry Kingdom. Though I didn’t have a chance to try out the campaign, the multiplayer is guaranteed to produce a good time for all gamers that give CK a chance.
As our time winded down we were treated to another feature where we’re able to adjust all facets of the stages by way of sliders and produce the craziest, most hardcore uber-platforming experiences known to man. while weren’t able to do much, every stage created is guaranteed to be playable and the A.I. proves it by showing you that stage can be completed. Look out for Cloudberry Kingdom very soon for Wii U, PS3, PS Vita, Steam and Xbox 360.
